About Us

The Coos Sand 'N Sea Quilt Guild serves the southern Oregon Coast, including Coos County, North Bend, and Bandon. The Guild was organized in October 1991 to share and perpetuate the rich heritage of quilting. Its purpose is to learn about quilt-making and the construction of quilts, to share experiences, inform the public about quilt-making as an art form, to learn about the history of quilts, and to promote an appreciation of the skills involved in the making of quilts.

Guild membership is open to all. Non-members are welcome to attend meetings. Guild membership is $20 per year.

"Being a part of the Coos Sand 'N Sea Quilters has brought so much joy and creativity into my life. It's more than just quilting; it's a wonderful community."

Our Projects & Community Outreach

Community Outreach

Our guild is passionate about giving back to the community through the art of quilting. We regularly contribute to several wonderful local programs:

  • Ruth's Closet: We provide sturdy, machine-washable twin-size quilts (approx. 65" x 90") for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church's Ruth's Closet program, which helps individuals transitioning out of homelessness.
  • Kids' HOPE Center: We donate quilts for infants, toddlers, and children (mostly ages 5-12) to the Kids' HOPE Center, which supports child abuse investigations in Coos County. We also contribute items for their annual benefit auction.

Other Guild Projects

Beyond our outreach, we have ongoing projects and challenges to inspire and engage our members:

  • Block of the Month: A fun, ongoing project where members learn new techniques and create a distinct block pattern each month to build their skills and a full quilt!
  • Reusable Produce Bags To be donated to the Coos Head Food Coop.
  • Cancer Care Comfort Bags Providing comfort to those undergoing cancer treatment.
  • UFO Challenge 2025: Exciting challenges to keep your quilting skills sharp!
  • Pizza Box Swap: A fun challenge where members contribute fabrics to a numbered box and create a 9.5" block for another quilter's box each month.
